Playa Piskado (Playa Grandi)
Playa Piskado, also called Playa Grandi, is a small fishing beach where green turtles congregate in the shallows, drawn by scraps from the fishermen cleaning their catch.
Near Westpunt, about an hour from Willemstad, this is the island's most reliable turtle encounter. It is a working fishermen's beach rather than a sunbathing spot, with a small sandy area and a pier. Slip in quietly and you will often share the water with several turtles. Treat them gently and never touch or chase.
Good to know
- Mornings, when fishermen clean their catch, are best for turtles.
- It is a small working beach — manage expectations on space.
- Never touch, ride or feed the turtles.
